Fall 2021 Native American Heritage Month - Event Descriptions
Native American Heritage Month began in 1986 as "American Indian Week." President Reagan dedicated the week to the celebration of Native American Heritage. In 1995, however, the entire month of November was designated as Native American Heritage Month. The month-long celebration highlights the history, culture, and people of Indigenous American heritage.

Description: Join Michael Lucero from San Felipe Pueblo, Director of Guest & Entrepreneur Experiences at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC), for an informative session about the IPCC's programming, museum, and gallery. Through this conversation, you will learn about the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico and how the IPCC preserves and perpetuates Pueblo culture, and advancing understanding - by presenting with dignity and respect - the accomplishments and evolving history of the Pueblo people of New Mexico.

Event: Generational Female Empowerment through Fashion

Event: Macchiato Indigenous Hip-Hop Concert

Description: Macchiato Music is a Hip-Hop group out of Santa Clara Pueblo NM consisting of 3 individuals, Isaac Gutierrez (Barrach), Isaiah Gutierrez (Zay_islike) and alumnus, Trevor Merhege (Killa T). Each Santa Clara Pueblo musician of the group presents a high level of lyrical ability with a unique style to one another. The group has grown and expanded their musical portfolio onto major steaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. They have a YouTube channel that is also rapidly growing which contains Music Videos and additional group content. On top of their ability to consistently produce high-quality hip-hop songs, they are a fun group see live. Macchiato Music derives from their energy and ability to connect with their audience, which creates a unique vibe that will have you jumping in your seat. Refreshments served!
