Procedures

  1. Access and Eligibility
  • 3D printing services are available for ENMU students, faculty, staff, and the general community during the open and operating hours of the ENMU Golden Student Success Center.
  • Submissions for 3D and 2D printing will be online through a form at: https://enmu.libguides.com/ProductionServices 
  • To use the “high end” processing computers in the lab, an ENMU ID or community borrower library card will be required to check out and use a computer.
  • To procure a library card, you must come in while the library is staffed by librarians.
  • Speak with staff or student workers in Production Services for any questions.

  1. General Usage Rules for the Lab
  • All use of technology and equipment within the Golden Library Emerging Technology Lab must comply with ENMU ‘Technology Acceptable Use’ Policy 60-1.
  • “High end” computers must stay plugged in their required positions; they may not be moved.
  • “High end” computers are for academic and creative purposes, there will be no inappropriate content or activities. Golden Library Production Services staff reserve the right to determine whether or not use is appropriate.
  • Users may not use saved files that are not their own. To keep projects safe, users should use a personal storage device.
  • Computers and Wacom tablets will be used on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Users may not 3D print offensive/adult objects or weapons/firearms. (Exceptions made be made for cosplay materials at the discretion of Production Services staff).
  • Limited paint and painting materials are available for painting prints. Please consult Production Services employees for more information.
  • Users under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

  1. 3D Printing Guidelines
  • 10-hour limit per plate printed.  Prints requiring multiple plates will reset in the printing queue. In other words, prints requiring multiple days of printing may be delayed with final completion/delivery.
  • Users may not 3D print items considered weapons/firearms or potentially offensive content, to the discretion of Production Services staff.
  • Users may bring in filament for their own project, and Production Services staff will do their best to make use of it. (ideal materials PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PET)
  • 3D print services are free for students, faculty, and staff.  Prints will cost $0.57 cents per oz. for community users.
  • Users may take any failed prints with you on pick up or have us throw them away.

  1. 3D scanners
  • To use the large-scale 3D scanner (the Artec Leo), users will have to contact production services via email to set up an appointment  Portales.GSSC.ProductionServices@enmu.edu
  • Appointments will require that either the Production Services Assistant or the Production Services Coordinator are on site when the scanner is used, they will be the operators.
  • The Creality 3D scanner will be used on a come first served basis, and will be available to check out. Users may not take this scanner from the Lab/ Productions services area.
  • Users may not take checked out equipment out of the production services area/Lab.
